The 1.2 million-ton/year catalytic cracking complex unit of Hebei Xinhai Chemical achieved a successful first-time start-up.

"On August 14, 2023, the 1.2 million-ton/year catalytic cracking complex unit, part of the Phase V Project of Hebei Xinhai Chemical Group Co., Ltd. (for which our company undertook the design), achieved a successful first-time start-up. Liu Xing, Chief Engineer of our company, and Zhang Lijun, Deputy Chief Engineer, went to the site in person to assist in the start-up. The catalytic cracking complex unit of Xinhai Chemical includes four sets of units in total: a 1.2 million-ton/year heavy oil catalytic cracking unit, a 250,000-ton/year gas fractionation unit, a 50,000-ton/year MTBE unit, and a 150,000-ton/year isooctane unit. The design of the complex unit was fully completed in August 2018, and the on-site ""three inspections and four determinations"" were carried out in April 2019. However, the start-up was delayed due to issues such as raw materials. Among them, the reactor-regenerator system of the heavy oil catalytic cracking unit adopts a high-low parallel two-vessel structure, which is the first unit designed integrally by our company using this structure. This two-vessel system has the advantages of high coke burning intensity and flexible and convenient operation control. Meanwhile, to control metal vanadium pollution, the content of metals, especially vanadium, in the raw materials is controlled below 5PPM from the source, so as to protect the catalyst activity to the maximum extent and reduce the catalyst consumption of the unit. The application of multiple new technologies in this complex unit will greatly reduce the energy consumption of the unit and bring good benefits to the enterprise."
