Ordos Laboratory MWh-level long-term high-temperature industrial thermal energy storage experimental demonstration project
In January 2025, the MWh-level long-duration and high-efficiency high-temperature industrial thermal energy storage pilot plant designed by the company in Ordos laboratory was officially completed and is about to be put into operation. The completion of this device marks a major breakthrough for the laboratory in the field of high-temperature industrial thermal energy storage technology, laying a solid foundation for in-depth verification of the technology’s feasibility, accelerating the industrialization process of the technology, and promoting the application and development of related technologies and demonstration projects in a wider range of fields.

Recently, based on the groundbreaking technical concept of "sand thermal battery" proposed by the team of Wei Fei and Zhang Chenxi from Tsinghua University, the pilot plant of the MWh-class long-duration high-temperature industrial thermal energy storage experimental demonstration project — independently developed by Tsinghua University and the Industrial Thermal Energy Storage Team of Ordos Laboratory, and designed and constructed by our company — has achieved full-process operation in Dalu Industrial Park, Jungar Banner, Ordos City. It has successfully produced the target steam, marking that the high-temperature solid particle thermal storage technology of this project has passed the full-process verification of ""heating — heat storage — heat release"". This is a significant milestone for the concept of "sand thermal battery" to move from the "laboratory" to the "production line".

On June 19, 2024, the 300,000 tons annual benzene refining and heavy aromatic hydrocarbon chain extension PI high-end new material integration project (Phase I) of Puyang Shengyuan Petrochemical (Group) Co., Ltd., for which our company undertook the design, achieved a successful first-time commissioning and produced qualified products.
